COP30: Belém will have 135 delegations present in November, says government

The COP30 (United Nations Conference on Climate Change), which will be held in November this year, in Belém, already has 135 countries confirmed, according to Pará Deputy Governor Hana Ghassan.

The announcement was made last Friday (12), during a visit to the conference accreditation area where the main dialogues about the climate will take place.

According to Hana Ghassan, the number of delegations doubled last month, reflecting the joint commitment of the Federal Government and the State Government.

“Today, we have 135 delegations confirmed, out of 196 countries. This month has doubled the number of confirmed delegations. Having 135 delegations two months before the event already shows that it will be a large COP, an inclusive and participatory COP,” said the deputy governor.

Hosting and price reduction

The deputy governor also highlighted measures adopted to ensure fair and accessible hosting during the event.

According to her, there was an average drop of 31% in daily prices in hotels and real estate per season in Belém, the result of joint actions of the State Public Defender’s Office (DPE), State Attorney General (PGE), Consumer Protection Center and Procon.

An accommodation plan was also prepared for delegates, with 2,500 individual rooms at prices set between 100 and 600 dollars.

UN -classified countries such as less developed (LDCs) and Small Small In -Development States (PEIDS) will have priority, with reduced rates of 100 to 200 dollars.

The Public Defender of Pará, Monica Belém, stressed the importance of the initiative. “From the beginning, our focus has been to ensure a fair and transparent consumer environment in Belém during COP30, so that all people, especially the most vulnerable groups, can fully participate in this global event,” he said.

Structure in the City Park

During the visit, Hana Ghassan inspected the assembly of Blue Zone (Blue Zone), UN and Federal Government’s official space for negotiations between leaders and delegations.

The area will have 64 modular tents, which will occupy 160 thousand m² of functional area in a safety perimeter of 240 thousand m².

There will be more than 100 pavilions, in addition to the plenary and offices of the delegations. The structure was planned to be sustainable, inclusive and integrated into the space of Parque da Cidade.
