The Vice President of the Republic (PSB) took advantage of this Monday (15/9), to make criticism of the government of (PL) and extol differences from previous management with the current government.
Alckmin stated that the country is currently discussing the possibility of reaching the zero primary deficit, as the fiscal framework predicts, while in the previous government, under the administration of former Minister of Economics Paulo Guedes, Brazil had almost 10% deficit.
“Today, the zero deficit is discussed in the press. We had with Paulo Guedes, Chicago Boy, 10% primary deficit. Brazil spent 10% more GDP, not paying debt. ‘It was Covid’. Cavid had worldwide. And the deficit was 0.5%. Here was 9.8%,” Alckmin said.

The vice-president was present in the public act organized by the Rights Group already by democracy, emerged in 2019, after the victory of Jair Bolsonaro to the presidency of the Republic. The meeting took place at the Tuca Theater of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), in the West Zone of São Paulo.
In his speech, which ended the event, Alckmin made several comparisons between the governments Lula and Bolsonaro and took the opportunity to remember the management of the previous government.
“If we look at everything that happened in the previous government. If it gets health: negationism, denying vaccine. Three things have changed the world: treated water, vaccine and antibiotic. Deny science. The result? Brazil that has 3% of the world’s population, had 10.5% of deaths in Covid, three times the world average, over 700,000 dead in Brazil,” he said.
Alckmin also sentenced the attempted coup d’état, a crime for which Bolsonaro and seven other defendants were convicted in the Federal Supreme Court ().
“If losing the election tried to get the coup, imagine if they had won the election. And the worst, even outside the government, continue to work against the interest of the Brazilian people outside, spreading fake news to harm their jobs and harm companies in Brazil,” said the vice president.
Defense of sovereignty
This year, the theme of the meeting was “in defense of democracy and national sovereignty”. The event brought together political leaders from different parties, as well as representatives of civil society, artists, intellectuals, jurists, magistrates and religious leaders.
In addition to the PT, the event was attended by representatives of parties such as PSOL, PDT, MDB, Solidarity, PV, PSB, PCdoB and PSDB. The latter was represented by former Deputy José Aníbal and former Minister of the Civil House of Fernando Henrique Cardoso, Clovis Carvalho.
In addition to the defense of national sovereignty and exaltations to Bolsonaro’s condemnation in the tonic of speeches was the need for the so -called democratic field to face the Bolsonarism strategy of reaching a majority in the Senate.
“We will change the National Congress in 2026,” said former Minister José Dirceu (PT), who should launch candidate for federal deputy.
According to the Coordinator of the Rights Group Já, sociologist Fernando Guimarães, the democratic field should establish a pact to launch only two candidates for the state’s Senate, as a way to avoid a fragmentation of the “wide front” that will be assembled to rival bolsonarism in the dispute over the home chairs.
According to the organization, the movement expresses “repudiation of the attempt to interfere with foreign leaders in the country’s internal affairs – such as the attack on the Supreme Court by international sectors combined with extremism – and calls Brazilian society to the National Unit in defense of Brazil, its democracy and its republican institutions”.
“In times of institutional reconstruction and growing global threats to democracy, our mission is to mobilize plural voices around fundamental principles: popular sovereignty, social justice, sustainable development and self -determination of peoples,” said sociologist Fernando Guimarães Rodrigues.
