EPE presented a portfolio of enterprises to reduce dependence on trucks to diesel
The (Energy Research Company) published this Thursday (16.Set.2025) PIO 2025 (Oleoduto Indicative Plan). In the document, the company linked to the Ministry of Mines and Energy presented a portfolio of 9 projects of pipelines that total R $ 32.6 billion.
The state -owned company presented the projects as opportunities to reduce bottlenecks in the flow of fuel and petroleum derivatives and to reduce the dependence of trucks to diesel in the logistics chain of this sector. Read the presentation (PDF – 5 MB).
According to EPE, Brazil has characteristics that favor the movement of liquid fuels by ductoviary mode – continental dimensions and concentration of refineries on the coast – but there were few investments in this type of infrastructure in recent decades.
This scenario places the Brazilian oils mesh as inferior to countries such as Argentina and Mexico. Compared to other powers with similar territorial extension, such as India, China and the United States, the Brazilian infrastructure is even more behind.
EPE also projects an increase in oil consumption and derivatives in Brazil in the coming years. In 2026, the company estimates a 1.9% increase in fossil fuel consumption.
To meet this growth in demand, the state -owned company points out that oils are a higher alternative to truck transportation, which today dominates the logistics sector of fuels.
“Road mode is energetically less efficient than ductoviary mode, especially for transporting large fuel volumes in medium and long distances”says EPE.
