The Attorney General of the Republic, asked this Monday (15) to The conviction of nine defendants in core 3 of the coup plot that occurred during the government of former President Jair Bolsonaro. In the final allegations sent to the Supreme Court, the last phase before the trial, Gonet reiterated the complaint against the defendants, who are accused of planning “tactical actions” to make the coup plan.

The nucleus consists of eight army military personnel and a federal police. They respond to crimes of armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the democratic rule of law, coup d’état, damage qualified by violence and serious threat and deterioration of listed heritage. In the demonstration, Gonet argued that the accusation against Lieutenant Colonel, Ronald Ferreira de Araújo Júnior, one of the defendants, is disqualified for the crime of inciting the armed forces against constitutional powers. With the measure, the accused may be entitled to an agreement to get rid of conviction. He currently responds to the five crimes imputed to all defendants.

Next Steps

From now on, the defendants of the accused will have a period of 15 days to send to the Supreme their final allegations. Then Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case, must release the process for trial.

OTHER CENTERS

So far, only core 1, formed by former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven other defendants, was convicted. In addition to nucleus 3, this year will be judged the nuclei 2 and 4. Nucleus 5 is formed by businessman Paulo Figueiredo, grandson of the former president of the dictatorship João Figueiredo. He lives in the United States and has not filed a defense in the process.
