Putin stressed that this strategic exercise aimed to practice all elements to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Union State of Russia and Belarus and to “defend against any aggression.”
Foreign delegations
According to Putin, 25 foreign delegations also participated in the exercise, while six countries were also provided by military contingents for activities in the West-20125 strategic exercise. The Russian state media reported that the West-20125 exercise also joined the coalition forces involving working groups and military contingents of the Armed Forces of Bangladesh, India and Iran, as well as soldiers from Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mali.
According to the Russian president, the exercise took place at 41 training grounds, attended 100,000 soldiers and used approximately 10,000 pieces of weapons and military equipment, including 333 aircraft and more than 247 ships.
The main phase of exercise
The main phase of the exercise was characterized by the massive use of unmanned aircraft, ground robotic systems and electronic combat systems, as well as training attack operations on motor vehicles or quads. In addition, the effective use of air defense systems, highly accurate ammunition and modern weapons was also practiced, taking into account the experience of the forces of air defense.
More than 100 representatives of the Military-Diplomatic Corps and observers from 55 countries also watched the main phase of the mulino exercise.
