Government allies at the INSS CPI tried a maneuver on Tuesday, 16, to postpone calls from family members of two key pieces of the alleged scheme of illegal discounts to retirees. Despite the attempt, the commission approved the testimonial takeover from Thursday, 18.
The governors wanted to stop the calling of the wife of businessman Mauricio Camisotti and the son and wife of lobbyist Antonio Carlos Camilo Antunes, the bald of the INSS. All appear as partners in companies and suspicious millionaire transactions made by the two main investigated. However, the requirements to convene them had been filed by PT parliamentarians and other base parties. Among them, the two main petistas of the CPI, Deputy Paulo Pimenta (RS) and Senator Randolfe Rodrigues (AP).
The call of family members and partners had been combined the day before, in a reaction to the fact that Antunes gave up the testimony to the CPI. Until hours before the testimony, he kept the presence confirmed. Camisotti has also warned that he will not attend. They made a decision of Minister André Mendonça of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), who provided the presence.

According to the leader of the government at CPI, Deputy Paulo Pimenta (PT/RS), the postponement of the calls would be given to not disturb the testimony of the bald and Camisotti to the Federal Police. Both were arrested on Friday, 12. “None of the prisoners have given testimony so far. Calling relatives is a message so that they do not say? This is a controversial issue. Listening to relatives after the statement will be much more enlightening and adequate.
The president of CPI, Senator Carlos Viana (Somos-MG), disagreed with the understanding. “If they used families to set up companies, benefit from resources, to think before. It is very clear that wives and children were used as partners and money receivers,” he said.
Pimenta asked, at the CPI meeting, so that the calls for calls of Cecilia Montalvão Queiroz, wife of Camisotti, and Tânia Carvalho dos Santos and Romeu Carvalho Antunes, wife and son of the bald man, were appreciated separately, and not in conjunction with the others.

The movement even paralyzed the CPI for parallel meetings. The collegiate’s summit met with governors in a room. And PT parliamentarians also gathered privately. At closed doors, Pimenta defended the postponement of the vote, but was defeated by the CPI summit.
With the resumption of the public meeting, the ruling senator Cid Gomes (PSB-CE) tried to block the calls saying that he received a phone call by which he was warned that “an action that can achieve over-significant results for the elucidation of this case was underway.” According to the interlocutor, which he did not reveal who he was, the calling of family members “could harm actions in progress.”
To the EstadãoSenator Randolfe Rodrigues (PT-AP) said there was conversations about an alleged award-winning report of the INSS bald. The version was denied by the CPI rapporteur, Alfredo Gaspar (União/AL), who had met with Federal Police delegates hours earlier.

As showed the Estadãopart of CPI members bet on bald pressure and Camisotti to collaborate with investigations and avoid exposing their families. They may have been mere oranges in the alleged illicit schemes. For oppositionists, the intention of the governors was to relieve pressure on bald and Camisotti so that they avoid delivering names linked to the government and could be somehow related to the scheme.
Calls were approved by:
