The court did not comply with her request despite repeated requests after his death in prison in 2024.

The City Court in the Russian city of Salechard refused to initiate criminal proceedings for the suspicion of the murder of opposition leader Alexei Navaľný, who died in 2024 in a prison in the town of Charp behind the Arctic Circle. She asked for a naval mother to initiate the proceedings. On social networks, the widow of Navaľný Julija Navaľná informed about it, said Deutsche Welle news website.

Navaľná stated that the family began to demand the commencement of this procedure the day after the Naval’s death – February 17, 2024 – and it was repeatedly rejected. The mother of politics, Ľudmila Navaľná, appealed against the refusal in court. The Salechard court now refused.
