ΗΠΑ: Γονείς καθυστερούν εμβόλια παιδιών, ξεσπά η μεγαλύτερη κρίση ιλαράς δεκαετιών

Due to the lack of confidence in and health authorities, more and more Americans are hesitant to vaccinate their children and a parent in six avoids or delayed childhoods recommended, according to a poll published today.

The research, conducted by the Washington Post and the KFF NGO and conducted with the participation of more than 2,500 parents, reveals the ever-increasing contempt for Americans to the vaccines since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out.

While Donald Trump’s health minister, anti -Volianist Robert Kennedy J., the poll shows that a great majority of parents continue to support vaccine liabilities in force.

However, a minority of them disputes the value of these measures. These parents choose to avoid or mandatory or recommended vaccines for their children, such as measles, tetanus or even polyOMelitis, for fear of side effects and a lack of confidence in the health authorities.

In the US, some vaccines, such as measles, red and mumps, are mandatory for a child to go to school. In many states, parents can, however, rely on a reason, beyond a medical contraindication, such as a religious motivation, in order to be excluded.

The profile of parents

The poll also reveals that parents who have postponed or avoided their children’s vaccination tend to be white, conservative and very religious and choose home education.

All of these are factors that can explain the decline in vaccination rates recorded in the country after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The percentage of preschoolers who were vaccinated against measles decreased nationally from 95% in 2019 to 92.5% in 2024, with large differences per region. In Idaho, it is below 80%, far from 95% recommended to ensure collective immunity.

And this trend could be worsened under the leadership of Robert Kennedy J., who has repeatedly questioned vaccines and has spread false information on the issue, according to experts.

As a result of this decline in vaccination rates, the US has experienced in 2025 the worst measles epidemic of the last 30 years, with three dead, two children.
