PT Deputy Rui Falcão accuses governor of acting in Brasilia to articulate amnesty the defendants of the coup plot, including Jair Bolsonaro; Attorney’s Office has five days to speak
The Minister of the Federal Supreme Court () determined on Tuesday (16) the opening of an autonomous petition to investigate accusations against the governor of São Paulo (Republicans), for possible obstruction of justice. The measure meets a representation presented by Deputy Rui Falcão (PT-SP). In the decision, Moraes referred the case to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), which will have five days to speak.
It will be up to the Attorney General of the Republic, to evaluate if there are enough elements to open an inquiry against the governor of São Paulo. According to the representation, Tarcísio traveled to Brasilia at the beginning of the STF’s scammer trial to meet with Congress leaders and to articulate support for a project that would benefit former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and other defendants.
For Rui Falcão, Tarcisio’s performance was “direct interference in the exercise of the judiciary”, with the aim of creating a “political shortcut” to weaken criminal prosecution. The deputy argues that the initiative is not restricted to parliamentary activity, but sought to “weaken the authority of the Court at the very moment when the historical judgment on the attempt of institutional rupture would be.”
