Portuguese musicians Camané and January are appointed to the Grammy Latin music prizes, which will be delivered on November 13 in Las Vegas, United States, it was announced Wednesday.
Fadista Camané is nominated with the album “Live at CCB – tribute to José Mário Branco”, in the category of “Best Music Album of Portuguese Language Roots”, while January is a candidate for the Latin Grammy of “Best Contemporary Pop Album in Portuguese”, with the album “Fugacy”.
Camané had already appointed to the Latin Grammy in 2020, along with pianist Mario Laginha, with the album “Here is quiet”, from the fado repertoire.
For the musician January, this is a debut in the nominations in the Grammy Latinoswhich arrives with the third of original soil.
Last April, Camané was distinguished in the play, the awards of Portuguese music, in the category of “Best Fado Album” with this live album, edited with the Warner Music Portugal seal.
The album includes 18 songs with poems by David Mourão-Ferreira, Alexandre O’Neill, Manuela de Freitas or all music by him.
In an interview with Lusa in 2024, when the album left, Camané recalled the relationship of two decades learning and work with that singer, arranger and producer, who died in 2019.

The musician has edited the debut EP for ten years, “January”, recorded in a home studio. The first album, “frag.men.tos”, arrived in 2018, the year in which he participated in the song Festival with the theme “(Untitled)”.
With a sound that mixes the Portuguese song, Brazilian popular music, jazz and electronics, January also edited the album “Without Time”, as well as the acoustic version of this, entitled “With Time”.
He later released, in collaboration with Brazilian musician Paulo Novaes, the EP “Proto-Colar, Vol.1” and the album “Proto-Colar, Vol.2”.
Currently working in a new album, which should be edited in 2026, January is also dedicated to music production and ‘sound design’.
