“Fans have been amazing, alignment is perfect for the 50th birthday and the show is probably our best ever,” says the band, who will play in Lisbon in July next year. Founded in 1975, the British Iron Maiden have been a recurring presence in Portugal.
The British band Iron Maiden will play at Estádio da Luz, in Lisbon, July 7 next year, a year after the passage at Meo Arena, also in the Portuguese capital, the promoter announced on Thursday.
The concert will take place under the tour “Run for Your Lives”, the same as the latest passage in Lisbon, for the band “being worshiping” the ‘Tournée’.
“Fans have been amazing, the alignment is perfect for the 50th birthday, the show is probably our best ever and the demand for tickets has been extraordinary, with virtually everything sold out and more than one million fans present. So we should do some more concerts in Europe before going to other parts of the world,” said Baixo Steve Harris, quoted in a statement.
In the same note to the press, the British Set Manager, Rod Smallwood, was pleased that “the vast majority of fans” respected the request “to severely limit the use of mobile phones in concerts, keeping them ideally in their pockets throughout the performance, especially in the areas of standing in front of the stage.”
“Unfortunately there were exceptions, but in general, the understanding and cooperation of fans made a colossal difference in the atmosphere of each concert, greatly increasing the pleasure of the band and the public,” he added.
Recurring presence in Portugal
Founded in 1975, the British Iron Maiden have been a recurring presence in Portugal. Bassist Steve Harris had a bar in Faro for more than 20 years and the band was the same headline of the 2011 edition of the Algarve capital’s motorcycle concentration.
Iron Maiden’s first album with Bruce Dickinson in voice, “The Number of the Beast” (1982), projected them definitively for the front line of the musical genre, being authors of multiple classic within the metal as “Somewhere in Time” and “Fear of the Dark”.
