White House: Tiktok algorithm will be retreated without Chinese control

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt revealed in an interview on Saturday (20) that the Tiktok algorithm will be protected, retreated, and operated in the United States, out of Bytedance control, the platform’s Chinese controller.

The details come after US President Donald Trump announced that Chinese leader Xi Jinping accepted the agreement on social network control. Leavitt added that Bytedance will stop less than 20% of a joint venture for Tiktok operations in the US.

In an interview with Fox NewsThe White House spokesman detailed that the board that will operate the company on US soil will be composed of seven members, six of them from the US.

In addition, the agreement between Washington and Beijing on the future of the application will require all US user data to be stored in US cloud computing infrastructure run by Oracle software company.

“Tiktok will remain a globally involable platform for US users,” Leavitt said.

Trump said to reporters in the Oval Hall on Friday, adding that “it could be a formality” to get a deal to be signed later.
