Educational, informative and social guidance, the program will be aimed at students from the 6th to 9th grade of elementary school and from the 1st to the 3rd year of high school, both from the public and private network of the municipality. Young people linked to youth assistance and development entities, such as apprentice training centers, may also participate.
The proposal provides that students have access to lectures and debates with educators, authorities and leaders of invited institutions, always focusing on topics of social and political interest. In addition, the project should be taken to Southern Cruzeiro schools as a way to encourage understanding the functioning of the legislature and the participation of the student community.
In defending the creation of the program, Elter Nóbrega stressed the importance of arousing in young people the interest in politics and knowledge about the role of the councilman. “Unfortunately, many citizens do not even know the names of the city’s own representatives. The less good people participate in politics, the more space is occupied by bad politicians. We need to train conscious and engaged citizens,” said the president.
The project continues to be processed in the Chamber and, if approved, will integrate the citizen training actions developed by the Municipal Legislature.
