Cut of accounts define that contributions of accounts linked to the concession will be the subject of another process
The (Federal Court of Audit) accepted the proposal for consensual solution between the government and the railroad concessionaire for the early renewal of the Southeast. Read the judgment (PDF – 3 MB).
The agreement states that about R $ 2.8 billion of the renegotiation are used in other rail projects. The technical area of the Court of Auditors was contrary to this device. Expressed concern about the application of resources through accounts responsible for this cross investment.
The rapporteur of the lawsuit, Minister Jorge Oliveira, wrote in the judgment that the Ministry of Transport and MRS may enter into the agreement, but that the accounts linked to make the new investments will be determined in a separate audit from the process.
MRS operates the Southeast Mesh – Mineral Railroad – since 1996. In July 2022, the company had its contract renewed for another 30 years from 2026.
This operation was signed last semester by the former president’s government (PL). Since 2023, the president’s government (PT) expresses the desire to review the terms of this renewal.
