Juraj Blanár, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, will also be part of the official delegation.
President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini will travel to New York on Saturday, where he will attend the 80th meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN VZ). He also has several bilateral negotiations and a meeting with compatriots. Juraj Blanár, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, will also be part of the official delegation. The main motto of the meeting is “Better Together”, which emphasizes more efficient multilateralism, global cooperation and solidarity in solving challenges. The opening ceremony of the general debate will take place on Tuesday, September 23 and the performance of the Slovak President as part of this general debate is expected on Wednesday, September 24, the evening of local time.
Crimean platform summit
Pellegrini, together with other leaders, will also participate in the 5th Crimean platform summit on Wednesday, the main aim of which is to confirm the UN Member State commitment to the UN Charter’s principles, including respect for territorial integrity and peace preservation.
The President of the Slovak Republic will also negotiate with the UN Secretary -General António Guterres or with the Chairman of the UN, Annalená Baerbock, as well as other selected partners. He will also participate in the Austrian reception on the occasion of his candidacy to the UN Security Council and at the reception of US President Donald Trump, which he organizes on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the UN VZ.
Slovak Festival in New Jersey
The Slovak President will meet compatriots in New Jersey, USA and attend the 47th Slovak Heritage Festival and attend a concert called “Slovaks in Concert”, who will present the Slovak cultural scene to the international audience.
In addition, the head of state in the premises of the permanent mission of the Slovak Republic at the UN will unveil the relief of the first permanent representative of Czechoslovakia at the UN Ján Papánek, who, according to the Office of the Slovak President, symbolizes the values on which Slovak foreign policy stands.
The President of the Slovak Republic will also participate in the discussion with Slovak professionals abroad about the future of Slovakia and the possibilities of their cooperation in the development of the country within the Slovak Pro 2025 Summit.
