The two-year-old girl, injured during a criminal attack in Epitaciolândia, had to undergo delicate surgery at the Children’s Hospital in Rio Branco on Friday (19). The procedure, called enucleation, resulted in the removal of the affected eyeball, causing the child to lose the vision of one eye.
According to the Acre State Department of Health (Sesacre), the patient remains hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), receiving multiprofessional follow -up and constant monitoring. The health condition is considered severe but stable, with no forecast of discharge.

The crime occurred on September 11, when Darliane Carneiro Alves, 21, and Cristhofer Kenndedy Pontes, 20, were shot dead indoors at Elias Nogueira Street, Gloria neighborhood in Epitacioland. During the attack, Darliane’s daughter was hit on her face. Initially, she was taken to the hospital of the municipality and, the next day (12), transferred in serious condition to Rio Branco.
Witnesses reported that two gunmen broke into the residence and fired the shots. Darliane still tried to protect her daughter and ran out of the house, but was reached and killed. Cristhofer tried to take refuge in the bathroom, but ended up being persecuted and executed with shots in his head. After the attack, the child was found crying under his mother’s body.
Delegate Erick Maciel, responsible for the investigation, said the couple had been arrested 19 days before the crime for drug trafficking. Both were released in custody hearing and were wearing an electronic anklet. The Civil Police continues to investigate the case to identify the perpetrators and the motivation of the attack.
