PL’s national president, former deputy Valdemar Costa Neto avoids ensuring that Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) will be the presidential candidate chosen by former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

In addition to insisting on Bolsonaro’s own candidacy, Valdemar states that the former president “is unpredictable”, as he did by launching Tarcisio candidate for governor of São Paulo. The PL president says he has heard other names of Bolsonaro and that he will not be surprised if the chosen one is the governor of Paraná, Ratinho Jr. (PSD).
He also states that Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) will obey Bolsonaro’s choice. “I can’t believe he fights with his father. Will he help kill his father for good?” Says Valdemar, about Eduardo’s possibility foot in his own candidacy for another party.
Regarding the processing of the proposal to reduce the penalty of the participants of scammer acts, Valdemar defends not only the amnesty, but the eligibility of the former president. “Bolsonaro has to be a candidate. Lula didn’t go?”
In an interview with the report, he states that the main stage of this dispute will be the Senate and that the PL may use the only weapon it has: obstruction. “We have number to stop the Senate.”
QUESTION – Mayor Hugo Motta says there are no vows for amnesty and suggested a reduction in penalties. Does the PL support this?
Valdemar da Costa Neto – No. We want Bolsonaro [livre]. That’s what the party wants. I think what the [presidente dos EUA Donald] Trump is waiting is the approval of the amnesty. Bolsonaro has to be a candidate. Did you imagine that Lula would be a candidate? Nobody. Hugo needs to take it ahead, he is disturbing his life.
P – Senate President David Alcolumbre said he does not vote a wide amnesty.
VCN – We have a gun. The only thing we can do within the law is obstruction. And we have number to stop the Senate. We do not want, because it harms the country, but we have 45 senators for it.
P – Mr. spoke of President Donald Trump. Depending on the result, should it adopt stricter sanctions against Brazil?
VCN – The Brazilian government has to go there to negotiate. Cannot close the doors to the US. It is the strongest nation in the world.
Q – Do you think Lula is very affront with the United States?
VCN – Much. A mistake. If I’m Lula, I was going to talk to Trump. Trump, helps me end the misery of my country? What do you want?
P – Lula counses that a country cannot interfere with the judgment of justice in Brazil.
VCN – Our misfortune is the supreme to have government support. This is what kills us. If not, they would not be doing so. We have to abide by decisions, but we are not obliged to accept.
Q – Are you going to defend the impeachment of Minister Alexandre de Moraes?
VCN – Clearly that a party people want, but this is not in our head because what we want is to win the election. I’m sure we will do majority in the Senate, win the Senate presidency. But things in politics change surprisingly. We have to walk for understanding, for Congress to be respected.
P – PP President Ciro Nogueira said Bolsonaro understands that he cannot be a candidate and that the best name is Tarcisio. Mr. Do you agree?
VCN – Who will indicate is Bolsonaro. Bolsonaro was president and said, “Do you know what I’m thinking to Sao Paulo? Tarcisio.” I said: “Excellent minister, but did not do a work that marked his presence there, not from there, do not vote there, do not live there!” I said, “Bolsonaro, I know you don’t have one less screw, but you’re not beating well.” Bolsonaro insisted, “Let’s study it there.” After that, he can come with another surprise [para a Presidência]. I don’t doubt it. He is not a normal person like us, because the charisma he has does not allow him to be normal like us.
P – But mr. Are you convinced that Tarcisio is the best name?
VCN – I can’t say that. Bolsonaro has touched this subject with me twice, with other names. “I’m thinking of indicating such a person.” “Bolsonaro, it will be who you indicate.” Maybe he has done this to see if I have a tendency. I don’t have. The big problem is that you have until April to change your party, and the conventions are only in June. Then he [Bolsonaro] You need to have confidence that I will do what he wants.
P – Can Michelle still run for presidency?
VCN – Everyone has a chance, Bolsonaro is unpredictable. It will not be surprised to me if Bolsonaro arrives with the name of the mouse.

Q – If Bolsonaro is stuck, how will the voter know what his candidate is?
VCN – I hope it doesn’t happen. If this happens, let’s go to the second round and get the election.
P – Eduardo has spoken to leave the PL and compete for the presidency for another party.
