Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj condemned Russia on Friday for deteriorating tensions with Europe and NATO. He responded to Friday’s disturbance of the airspace of Estonia by three Russian fighters. According to the AFP report, TASR informs about this and the contribution of Zelensky on Social Network X.
Greenya marked a 12 -minute disturbance of Estonia’s airspace by Russia as “unheard of” and added that it is not “accidents”, but a systematic Russian campaign directed against Europe, NATO and West. “Russia’s destabilization activities are spreading to new countries and directions. They use all the means: from interfering with political processes, such as Romania and Moldova, to disturbance of airspace, such as Poland, Romania and now in Estonia,” he wrote.
According to the Ukrainian President, such conduct of Moscow requires a systemic response, with strong steps being taken collectively and also individually by each country. Russia must feel increasing pressure from the international community, especially through the economy, which, according to Green, is most effectively achieved by sanctions. “At the same time, Russia’s losses in the war must continue to increase, as well as a strong Ukrainian army,” the president added.
Friday’s incident was also condemned by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybihaaccording to which it was “another Russian escalation and a direct threat to transatlantic security”. Estonia’s airspace on Friday was disrupted by three Russian MiG-31 aircraft, which are able to carry hypersonic rockets Kinžal. They stayed in the Estonian airspace for about 12 minutes. Estonia summoned a Russian diplomat in Tallinn in response to the incident.
Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal said that Estonia will apply for consultations under Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty. NATO spokeswoman Allison Hart announced that the North Atlantic Council will meet early next week and negotiate on Friday’s incident.
