Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix starting at McLaren’s pole Pastri, hit the first lap and had its advantage in Formula 1 about his teammate Lando Norris reduced to 25 points.
McLaren hoped to secure its 10th title of builders, the second consecutive, on Sunday, with a record of remaining seven stages, but now needs to wait until Singapore on October 5.

George Russell finished second by Mercedes and Carlos Sainz in third, Williams’ first podium of the season.
Pistri had problems with a vehicle still at the start.
Norris started and ended in seventh, with his chances of scoring more points harmed by a slow pit stop by the second consecutive race.
The Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto, who had dropped in the 13th position of the initial grid, finished the race in 12th.
