The Algarve will mark World Tourism Day 2025 (September 27) with a festive and diversified program that involves residents, visitors and partners in the sector.
The highlight will be the 55 year gala of the Algarve Tourism Regionin the casino of Vilamoura, which ends the celebrations of the birthday of the institution and will be broadcast live.
The initiatives also include a special issuance of Observer Radio, actions at RTA Tourism Posts and the return of Algarve Nature Fest to Aljezur and Monchique.
RTA’s 55 -year gala
On September 27, the Miralago Hall of Vilamoura Casino hosts the 55th anniversary gala from the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA), an event that brings together personalities and partners in the sector on a night of honors and distinctions to various personalities and entities, but also to celebrate Algarve tourism. With live broadcast live by Conectv Algarve (position 164 MEO), the gala intends to be, besides an institutional moment and the closing of the 55th anniversary of RTA, a true party marked by live music, the show “Dance Flavors” and the spirit of sharing that has characterized the history of RTA.
Special Issue Observer Radio
The day before, September 26, the Observer Radio broadcasts live on Faro Airport, between 14h00 and 17h00, a special emission entirely dedicated to the Algarve. Gastronomy and wines, cultural and natural heritage, major events and future projects will be featured throughout the emission, which will be attended by local and national guests to give voice to the stories and experiences that make the Algarve a destination for the whole year.
Actions in tourism posts
Also on September 27, tourists visiting the RTA tourism posts in various locations will be able to participate in demonstrations and tastings of regional products that reflect the gastronomic and cultural identity of the region. It is also planned to offer gifts to those who pass through the Algarve Tourism Tourist Information Posts. Thus, visitors who have chosen the region for their holidays at this time of year will have the opportunity to take small memories that celebrate World Tourism Day.
Algarve Nature Fest
From September 26 to 28, Aljezur and Monchique will be the scene of Algarve Nature Fest, a festival entirely dedicated to nature tourism and direct contact with the territory. The program includes more than 40 free activities, including hiking, electric bicycle rides, surf classes, poultry and jeep safaris observation, inviting residents and visitors to discover the authenticity of the Algarve through outdoor experiences that value natural resources and promote healthy lifestyles. Integrated into the festival, there will still be a fam trip with nine international operators, who will participate in a B2B meeting with the trade Regional tourist, providing more than 100 work meetings designed to reinforce the international promotion of destination.
With this diversified program, the Algarve tourism is associated with the international celebrations of the 2025 World Tourism Day, whose theme is “Tourism and sustainable transformation”underlining the vision of the region as a destination that bets on sustainability, innovation and valorization of local communities.
