New rule hardens use of public transport and aims respect between passengers
The city of A Coruña, Spain, has approved a new standard that is drawing attention: fines of up to 200 euros (about R $ 1,251.47) for passengers who use sound devices in public transport without headphones.
The measure is valid for buses and taxis and seeks to ensure more tranquility and respect during travel. Those who insist on listening to music or high volume videos can be penalized and even invited to withdraw from the vehicle.
In addition to the news, the city also implemented other rules linked to sustainable mobility.
Among them, the creation of low emissions zones, the city’s transformation into a “city 30” – with speed limit of 30 km/h in most of the roads – and regulation for electric bikes and scooters, which are prohibited from circulating on sidewalks.
In Brazil, there is still no single fine for this type of behavior, but several cities have similar laws.
In Teresina (PI), the penalty is $ 300. In Rio de Janeiro, the value can reach $ 950 in intercity transport. In São Paulo, the rule is warning and even withdrawal from the passenger from the vehicle.
With the changes, Coruña wants to show that urban mobility is not only a matter of traffic, but also of social coexistence.
