Authorities recognize that the next few hours will be hard work, so the afternoon will be surveillance to prevent the progression of the fire front that is close to eight kilometers.
About 70% of the fire in the municipality of Aljezur is dominated, but the operational ones will remain on the ground for permanent surveillance work, because the wind gusts planned for the afternoon of Monday can bring challenges.
“All means will remain in the theater of operations without any possibility of demobilization,” explained commander Abel Gomes of the Algarve Civil Protection.
The fire destroyed a second housing houselocated in Treamelo. It was the only one affected. The loss in the National Forest is “very large”, says the mayor of Aljezur, José Gonçalves.
There is still registration of Nine Light Woundedof which two had to be transported to the hospital: a firefighter with nausea and a citizen who suffered a hypertension crisis.
