“If the US abandons their delusional obsession with nuclearization and, by recognizing reality, express a real desire for peaceful coexistence with us, then there is no reason not to be able to sit before the leadership,” Kim said, according to KCNA.
‘I have beautiful memories from Trump’
“Personally, I have beautiful memories of the current US president, Donald Trump,” the North Korean leader added.
North Korea has conducted six nuclear tests between 2006 and 2017, and has continued to develop its arsenal despite international sanctions.
Pyongyang defends the development of its nuclear program for military purposes, citing threats it claims to face from the US and their allies, including South Korea.
In January, Kim Jong Un had said that the North Korean nuclear program would continue “indefinitely”.

For his part, US President Donald Trump, who had unprecedented contacts with Kim Jong Un during his first term in the White House, has expressed a willingness to repeat his meetings with North Korean leader – “a smart man”.
The two leaders first met at a historic summit in June 2018 in Singapore, then at Hanoi, Vietnam in February 2019 and for the last time in the demilitarized zone between South and North Korea in June 2019.
