Allies of the former president () have used the amnesty proposal to convicted of the scammers of January 8 to wear out the governor’s list of (Republicans), with the president of ,.

They want a firmer position of the party of this one that is the main agenda of pockets and could also rid the former president of jail.

Part of these allies even advocates Tarcisio’s break with the PSD president, who is also secretary of government and institutional relations of São Paulo – today the main responsible for the political articulation of the São Paulo government with mayors and state deputies.

According to interlocutors of the governor of São Paulo, there was a conversation between the two a few weeks ago, in which Tarcisio asked for support for the amnesty. Kassab, according to reports, pledged to do his best.

The pressure has had an effect. On the 13th, publicly in favor of amnesty. He also sympathized with Bolsonaro.

“Kassab reaffirms publicly, once again, his public position in favor of guiding the theme and his already public position of solidarity with former President Bolsonaro and in favor of amnesty,” says a statement.

In practice, the PSD is divided. In the vote on the urgency to the Amnesty Bill in the House, of the 45 deputies, 28 were favorable, 12 contrary and 5 did not vote. Bench leader Antonio Brito (BA) was absent from the session. The merit of the text has not yet been discussed.

In the Senate, the PSD bench is pointed out as one of the largest barriers against the advance of amnesty, as well as the president of the house, David Alcolumbre (Brazil-AP Union). The assessment is that only 2 of the 12 senators would vote for.

One of the party’s main names, Senator Otto Alencar (BA) claims to be against the agenda. He says the measure is unconstitutional and that, if approved by the House of Representatives, it must be assessed by the Constitution and Justice Commission, of which he is president.

Another name of the group, Senator Rodrigo Pacheco (MG) was one of the articulators of a penalty of part of the convicts and braking the Bolsonarist election.

PSD senators state, under reserve, that Kassab respects the position of the bench. Three party members say he never dealt with them. One of the parliamentarians says he only knows the position of the party president through public statements.

In August, Kassab said the amnesty was “no freak” and should be debated with caution. On the other hand, he stated that his opinion was that a wide, general and unrestricted amnesty did not invite.

Kassab is seen with suspicion at Tarcisio base because the PSD also joined the Lula Government (PT) with three ministers. The party is known for pragmatism and tends to divide into ideological themes.

The complaint of these allies of the Governor of São Paulo is that the acronym did not position itself alongside pockets on relevant topics, such as the INSS Mixed CPI, in which names were cast in the government base.

Despite the pressure, politicians close to the governor and Kassab himself recognize that there are wear and tear, but they rule out his departure from the secretariat. PSD president’s allies also minimize the pressure of pockets, which claim to be recurring, and point out that a breakdown would only benefit Lula because it would push the subtitle to petism.

These politicians close to the governor say that the nature of the PSD is less centralized than other parties and that it will not be possible to have all votes. What they expect from the leader is an institutionally favorable stance on the measure.

The assessment of the governor’s interlocutors is that the lack of a position of Kassab in favor of amnesty could make him electorally unfeasible in the state.

The purpose of the PSD president is to be governor of São Paulo and, for that, he plans to be the vice in the Tarcisio reelection plate, with the plan to take over in 2030. With the signs that the governor will be launched to the Planalto Palace by Centrão, Kassab’s path to the Bandeirantes Palace is even more uncertain.

If Tarcisio leaves the government in April to run for presidency, the names that compete for his support to succeed him are, besides Kassab, the President of the Assembly, André do Prado (PL), the mayor of Sao Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), and the current deputy governor, Felício Ramuth (PSD). In this scenario, Tarcisio should migrate to PL, and Felício can change the PSD for Republicans.

Kassab can run out of space and without support in the face of disagreements with Bolsonaro and Centrão Mandachuvas: Valdemar Costa Neto, PL President Ciro Nogueira, PP, and Marcos Pereira, from Republicans.

Nationally, the president of the PSD has defended his own candidacies, with the governors of Paraná, Ratinho Junior (PSD), and Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSD), while cheering for Tarcisio to compete for reelection and not the presidency.
