The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) reported, on Monday (22), Federal Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) and influencer Paulo Figueiredo to the Supreme Court (STF).
The prosecution points out that both articulated from the United States to try to interfere with the trial that resulted in the conviction of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for attempted coup.
According to the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, the accused acted to “intimidate and embarrass” court ministers, encouraging Donald Trump’s government reprisals, such as sanctions and tariffs against Brazil. Although quoted in the inquiry, Jair Bolsonaro was not included in the complaint.

The case will be initially analyzed by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the actions involving January 8 and the coup plot. Moraes will verify if the complaint fulfills the technical requirements and, if you understand that yes, will notify the defense of the accused to present a statement.
After this stage, the rapporteur will take the case to the first class of the Supreme Court, composed by him, Cármen Lúcia, Cristiano Zanin, Luiz Fux and Flávio Dino. If the class rejects the complaint, the process is filed.
If the complaint is received, Eduardo Bolsonaro and Paulo Figueiredo become defendants in criminal action and the process goes to the instructional phase, with the collection of evidence and statements.

Political penalties and implications
The crime of coercion in the course of the case provides for a penalty of one to four years of imprisonment, as well as a fine. This punishment can be aggravated by the relevance of the position of Eduardo Bolsonaro and the severity of the threats described.
In case of conviction, Eduardo may face not only criminal but also political consequences, including the possibility of loss of parliamentary mandate.
