Jaundice in the south of Slovakia Bujnie: Hygienists ordered vaccination to the inhabitants of this village

The situation with viral hepatitis A (VHA) in the Lučenec district is the worst in the village of Šíd. There are more than half of all cases in the village near Fiľakov within the current epidemic of the disease. Therefore, the Regional Office of Public Health (RÚVZ) in Lučenec ordered vaccination to all the inhabitants of the municipality who came into contact with the sick.

In the past week, 16 new cases of jaundice type A have been added in the Lučenec districtof which 14 in Šída. Of the total number of 106 diseases that occurred in the district in recent months, there are 61 cases. “In recent weeks, RÚVZ based in Lučenec has seen a deterioration in the epidemiological situation in the occurrence of viral hepatitis and in the village of Šíd.

In connection with the increase in cases in Šída hygienists on Friday (19 September), they issued a decree to order all citizens to undergo medical supervision no later than 72 hours after the last contact with the person who had a disease of VHA or suspected of the disease. Residents who have been in contact with people with jaundice should also be subject to vaccination against VHA. “The vaccination of the inhabitants, especially those who came into contact with the person of Chorus for viral hepatitis A, was ordered to be performed in outpatient clinics with their general practitioners,” Andó said.

According to the mayor of the village of Arnold Kurunci, jaundice in Šíd is spreading especially in the marginalized Roma community. In his words, the municipality takes the necessary measures, and also distributed disinfectants to residents of rental flats. Field social workers will also inform about the need for vaccination, and according to the mayor, mass vaccination could also be organized in the premises of the Cultural House.

In the district of Lučenec, hygienists have registered an increase in cases of jaundice type A in the Lučenec district since spring. The first cases occurred in Fiľakov and its surroundings, the disease was to be imported from abroad to the region. RÚVZ within the district currently registers seven active fireplaces, namely in the villages of Šíd, Čakanovce, Belina, Podrečany, Šárov and the cities of Fiľakovo and Luček.
