During the WWRicardo Zúñiga, former member of the United States State Department, offered a forceful analysis of the commercial view of the president of the United States, in relation to other countries. According to him, from Trump’s perspective, there are no commercial allies, as they are all seen as opponents of Americans.
According to Zúñiga, the global scenario has undergone significant transformations. If it was once possible to establish a strategic milestone with the world’s main powers, today the panorama is much more fragmented, although the ideological issue maintains its relevance.
Brazil-Eua Relations
Zúñiga pointed out that the White House had initially accepted a “distorted view of right-wing politics in Brazil” by the family of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). However, when they failed to achieve their political goals, there was a change of posture.
From visits by businessmen and other Brazilian political actors to Washington, the American administration began to adopt a more pragmatic approach. According to Zúñiga, this demonstrates that, despite the importance of ideology, there is a willingness to make it more flexible for other strategic objectives.
