The Salar de Uyuni is a huge dried Salzsee in Bolivia and delivers several superlatives. With over 10,000 square kilometers (this is greater than Carinthia), it is considered the largest dry salt lake and thus also the largest salt surface of the planet. The salt deposits reach dozens of meters deep and are also recorded in size. The Salzsee has also been used for lithium reduction since 2023.
