“Elections in the USA, I don’t get.

At a press conference after a United Nations Agenda (UN), President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said he wanted to reestablish necessary harmony between Brazil and the USA. Even with speech aligned with the search for a good relationship, the president pointed out that he will not tolerate interference in Brazilian politics and that sovereignty is not on the agenda.

“When I have elections in the US, I don’t get myself. When you have elections in Brazil, it doesn’t get into,” he said.

Saying “satisfied” with the quick conversation with Trump on Tuesday after making his opening speech at the UN General Assembly in New York, Lula confirmed the possibility of a meeting between the two in the coming days.

“I had another satisfaction of having a meeting with President Trump. What seemed impossible is no longer impossible and happened. I was happy when he said … who painted good chemistry between us,” Lula said in an interview at UN headquarters in New York.

“Since I think the human relationship is 80% chemical and 20% emotion, I think this relationship is very important and I hope it works because Brazil and the United States are the two largest democracies on the continent,” added the president, citing mutual interest areas in the business, commercial, industrial, technological and digital sector, among others.

Lula said he would like to present to the US president the real conditions present in trade between Brazil and the US. “I think Trump is poorly informed about Brazil and this has made him make decisions that are not acceptable in countries that have been due to diplomatic for over 200 years,” he says.
