The Alliance responds to incidents with drones in Denmark and Norway by strengthening security operations in the Baltic Sea.
The North Atlantic Alliance will “increase alertness” in the Baltic Sea after unauthorized drones have repeatedly entered the Danish airspace over the week. At a press conference at night on Sunday, the Alliance spokesman Martin O’Donnell said it, TASR writes, according to AFP report.
The measures “include several news, tracking and exploration platforms and the deployment of at least one anti -aircraft frigat in the west area of Russia,” O’Donnell said. According to him, the highest representatives of NATO are “in constant contact with Danish management” regarding incidents with drones.
Incidents with drones
Over the territories of Denmark and Norway, from Monday, unknown unauthorized drones have noticed several times, which led to the closure of some airports there. Denmark did not exclude Russia’s involvement in incidents.
In recent weeks, Poland, Romania and Estonia have said that their airspace had been disrupted by fighter aircraft or drones from Russia. They blame Moscow of testing the readiness and defenses of the Alliance.
Russian negative opinion
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday rejected charges of participating in Danish incidents with drones, and NATO warned that, in case of any aggression against Russia, it would risk the “decision reaction”.
