It was a scene that Italy has never seen since the targeted murder of priests in the 1980s and nineties: on Sunday morning, while the mass in the San Paolo Apostolo church in Caivano, a 75-year-old man presented a pistol ball to the priest Maurizio Patriciello, wrapped in a handkerchief. Shortly before, the man, together with the other believers, had received the host by the priest in the sign of communion. The ball had 9 mm caliber, which is often used by the Camorra.
