“Let’s talk about sex, sexuality and sexual health” is released this Monday by the Order of Psychologists (OPP) to sensitize and educate the population for sexual health.
The document reveals that half of the Portuguese are dissatisfied with their sex life and a third of people people live in psychological suffering associated with sexual difficulties.
According to the numbers of the manual detailed by the most reported problems are low sexual desire (10.6%) and erectile dysfunction (10.4%).
Among men is still pointed to premature ejaculation (11.7%). Already women refer difficulties in reaching orgasm (11.3%) and sexual pain (10.7%).
About 30% of men and 40% of women have some kind of sexual dysfunction, a number that can reach 70% after 65 years.
The document also details that one in seven women and one in 25 men has been a victim of sexual violence.
OPP also warns adolescents for the risks of “early exposure to pornographywhich can lead to distorted learning about sex, self -image, consent, pleasure and relationships, with future risks for health and well-being“.
In another document, also released this Monday, the Order recommends more sexual health in national plans, schools and workplaces
Also appeals to the promotion of literacy in sexual health, through programs in All teaching cycles and – as the Expresso cites – public campaigns that “value pleasure, consent, diversity and the prevention of violence”.
Another of the data that stood out in the document was the increase in Portugal of cases of sexually transmitted infections among young people. “They increased 11 times between 2013 and 2023”.
In addition, it is also recalled that “Portugal has a percentage of cases of HIV infection above the European average ”.
