The storm that keeps some areas of the east peninsular in red has caused problems in the province of Valencia during the early morning, after causing some floods and overflows in Zaragoza on Sunday. The heavy rains, up to 57 liters per square meter in just over half an hour, which have registered tonight in the municipality of Aldaia, have caused the overflow of the ravine of La Saleta at the height of the Bonaire dike, flooding some streets of the urban nucleus. However, anti -informed barriers have done their job.
The Metropolitan Area of Valencia, especially L’Horta Sud – the zero zone of the Dana on October 29 – has registered strong storms this morning. The mayor of Aldaia, Guillermo Luján, explained that strong rainfall has caused moments of tension during the night, although “fortunately he has stopped raining and the levels have been going down.” Evacuations have not been necessary because the anti -flood barriers installed by the Consistory in the La Saleta ravine and the pipes “have fulfilled their function and, although several streets have been flooded, the water has not passed the height of half a wheel of a car.”
Other Valencian municipalities have also registered large accumulated rain, such as Manises (72 liters per square meter), Paterna (41), Quart de Poblet (39,2), Pedralba (43.6), Riba-Roja (40), Vilamarxant (30.6), L’Eliana (30,8), Burjassot (25.8). In Castellón, according to the records of AVAMET, outstanding accumulated such as the 42.2 liters of AIN, the 33.6 of Artana, the 44.7 of Suera or the 38.8 of Torralba de Pinar have been collected.
Red notice
The State Meteorology Agency () activated Sunday that affects the coast of the Valencian Community on Monday, although also to southern Catalonia and Balearic Islands. From 4.00, the north and south coastlines of Valencia are in heavy rains and, from last night, the prelital and the southern coast of Tarragona and the northern coast of Castellón. In addition, there are orange and yellow warnings in other areas of the Valencian Community, Aragon, Castilla-La Mancha and East Andalusia.
The strongest of this episode is expected for this Monday, with rains up to 300 liters per square meter throughout the episode in some areas of Valencia. Aemet already warned the weekend that “showers can lead to sudden and sudden local floods in low areas, streams and ramblas, so the level of potential danger of this situation is high,” according to this entity dependent on the Ministry for Ecological Transition.
The Valencian and Catalan governments sent on Sunday afternoon. And for this Monday Aemet has active notices for rains in Andalusia, Aragon, Baleares, Castilla-La Mancha, Cataluña, Murcia and the Valencian Community. But it is in this last community where the most complicated during this Monday is expected. Specifically, the state agency has decreed red notices – the highest level that implies “extreme risk“ – in the northern and southern coastlines of the province of Valencia. “The red notice implies an extraordinary danger, with a risk of floods and serious impacts on goods and people,” said Rubén del Campo, Aemet spokesman. “It is recommended not to travel, unless necessary and remain informed of the weather and in force notices,” he said.

“Since the early hours are expected, tormentous showers locally strong or very strong, and persistent, in the Valencian Community, extending during the afternoon to other areas of the southeast interior,” says the agency. “The greatest intensities and the largest accumulated are expected in the center and south of the Valencian Community, and especially in the province of Valencia, between Monday and the first half on Tuesday, when 250-300 mm with torrential intensities could be exceeded,” he adds.
“It is likely that the Balearic Islands are also affected by this episode, with torments torments locally strong or very strong, especially from Monday afternoon, and in the islands of Ibiza and Mallorca,” says Aemet.
