Preparation for the heating season 2025/2026. Do it with radiators at home
The heating season will start at any moment. Due to the fact that outside temperatures dropped drastically in just a few days, each of us is waiting for the start of heating as for salvation. Autumn and winter are after all a time when radiators become our allies in the fight against the cold. However, to enjoy a comfortable even heat throughout the apartment and at the same time not overpay for heating bills, it’s worth it accordingly. First, clean the radiators and vent them. We can handle both one and the other task. Just follow the instructions.
Venting the radiator. How to do it yourself?
This is a simple activity that you can do yourself. However, it requires proper preparation and several tools. You will need a flat screwdriver (screwdriver) or a special key to venting radiators. In addition, prepare a bowl, a glass or other water container. Before we start, we turn off the thermostatic valve (if the radiator has it) and the power valve (if it is separate). It is worth checking the pressure in the installation before venting (it should be from 1 to 1.5 bar). Too low pressure may make it difficult to push the air out of the radiator. If the pressure is too low, it should be supplemented according to the boiler/installation instructions.
When the radiator is properly prepared, we start venting the radiator. At the beginning under the vent (usually the knob or screw located in the upper part of the radiator) we place the water container. Then, with the help of a screwdriver or key, gently unscrew the vent. Initially, air will come out of the radiator and then water. When the water stream becomes continuous and free of air bubbles, we can turn off the vent.
After turning the vent we slowly unscrew the valves (thermostatic and supplying). Then we check the pressure in the installation and if necessary, we supplement the water until the pressure is obtained in the range of 1 to 1.5 bar. The thermostat knob is placed to the maximum position and observe whether the radiator heats up. If the cause of the cold radiator was his announcement, he should quickly become warm. If the problem does not disappear, repeat the venting process or consult a plumbing.

How to clean the radiator?
The next stage of preparation for the heating season is. This is a very important activity that affects the proper functioning of radiators in our home. It is best to start cleaning by removing dirt with a vacuum cleaner. It is worth cleaning all available radiator places from superficial dust. Then go to cleaning the radiator inside. Just mix the washing powder with hot water. Place the bowl under the radiator, and then pour the mixture prepared earlier. The interior of the radiator will be thoroughly cleaned. Finally, remember to wipe the outer part of the radiator with a cloth moistened with water with the addition of dishwashing liquid. In addition to this trick, an easy way to clean the radiator is to use compressed air and vacuum cleaner, and then the clash of blown dust with a damp cloth.
