Women’s Minister Marcia Lopes said on Monday that women should not “vote under any circumstances in men who do not respect women.”
Lopes said that the government’s priority is compliance with the salary equality law between men and women. “The president charges us a lot that the salary equality law has to leave the paper, it has to be applied throughout the private sector, by all private employers, public,” said the minister.
The speech took place at the opening of the 5th CNPM (National Conference on Policies for Women) in Brasilia. The three -day meeting brings together about 4,000 women and should lead to the approval of resolutions to update the National Policies Plan for Women, which serves as the basis for federal government actions on gender topics.
The last CNPM took place in 2015, during the government of President Dilma Rousseff (PT). The minister criticized the lack of meetings during the management Michel Temer (MDB) and Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
The Lula government. The terrace, which never had gender parity among ministers, is currently less egalitarian than when the president took over in 2023.
Ministers such as Ana Moser, from Sport, and Daniela Carneiro, from Tourism, were replaced by male occupants-André Fufuca (PP-MA) and Celso Sabino (União Brasil-PA), respectively. Sabino left the government last week amid the landing of his management party.
