The 2nd retired Lieutenant of the Acre Military Police, Reginaldo de Freitas Rodrigues, 56, was arrested on the morning of Monday (29), after performing spontaneously at the Specialized Police Station for Women’s Assistance (Deam) in Rio Branco. He is accused of killing his mate, Ionara da Silva Nazaré, 29, with three shots last Saturday (27), inside the couple’s residence, located on Apple Street, in the Mocinha Magalhães neighborhood.

The court had decreed the temporary arrest of the military on the same day of the crime. Since then, Civil Police and Military Police teams have been mobilized in search of the suspect.
The crime
According to information from the investigation, Ionara was murdered indoors, in front of the couple’s two daughters, 3 and 7. Witnesses reported that before the shooting there was a discussion between the two. The military used a .40 caliber pistol to commit the crime and then fled the scene.
Residents of the region said they saw the suspect walking on a public road with the gun in hand right after the murder. The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was triggered, but when it arrived at the residence the victim no longer had vital signs. The body was removed by the Forensic Medical Institute (IML).
Suspect’s trajectory
Reginaldo joined the Acre Military Police in the 1980s and retired as 2nd lieutenant in 2018, after more than 30 years of service. In 2022, he returned to administrative activities at the General Command Headquarters through the Remunerated Reserve Volunteer Corps.
Family report
One of the sisters of Ionara told police that the crime may have been motivated by a possible betrayal of the victim. The relationship between Ionara and Reginaldo would have started in September last year and, in November, the two decided to live together.
