  • Donald Trump introduced a 20-point peace plan for Gaza.
  • The plan was supported by Israel and several European leaders.
  • The plan determines the release of hostages and demilitarization of the region.
  • Hamas assesses the plan and expresses its opinion later.

The European Council President António Costa called on Monday night for all parties to the Gaza Conflict to “take the opportunity” to close peace after US President Donald Trump introduced his 20-point plan to end the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant Hamas movement. TASR informs according to AFP report.

“I welcome the President’s Plan (Trump) to end the Gaza war and encourages the positive reaction of the Prime Minister (Benjamin) Netanyahu,” Costa wrote on the Platform X. “The situation in Gaza is unbearable. Hostile actions must end and all hostages must be immediately dismissed,”He added.

Trump’s plan, which has already been supported by Israel, was also welcomed by other European leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Italian Prime Minister Giorgie Meloni.

“We strongly support (Trump’s) efforts to end the fighting, release hostages and ensure the provision of urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza. This is our highest priority and it should happen immediately,” said Starmer, who also called for Hamas to immediately agree and “end this”.

The Hamas movement has not yet commented on the plan immediately, only stated that it will “judge it in good faith” and will respond to it. In the meantime, however, Trump’s plan has already been welcomed by the Palestinian self -government (PA) on the West Bank of Jordan and was also supported by eight Arab Muslim countries – Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan.

Peace plan for the Gaza band

The White House on Monday published an American peace plan for the Gaza band, which envisages the end of the war between Israel and the militant Hamas movement and the return of all hostages – the living and the dead. At the same time, it stipulates that in the event of the end of the fighting, the Gaza band would pass under the administration of the transitional government headed by US President Trump.

Trump’s 20-point plan, which they published shortly before his press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the White House, assumes that if both sides of the conflict agree to the proposal, “the war will end immediately”. It does not require the Palestinians to leave the Gaza band – if they want to, they will be able to do so and freely return.

Hostage should be released within 72 hours from the moment of the agreement to be accepted by Israel and Hamas. As soon as everyone gets out of freedom, Israel will release 250 Palestinians sentenced to life imprisonment and 1700 Gaza inhabitants who were detained after the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023.

The plan also demands the creation of a so -called “Council of Peace”, which would be chaired by Trump and whose member would also be former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and other leaders. This international authority would look at the “apolitical Palestinian committee” composed of qualified Palestinians and international experts, which will manage Gaza under the Palestinian self -government after the war.

Blair himself on Monday described Trump’s peace gentleman for Gaza as “courageous and intelligent”writes AFP. Hamas and other militant groups should not participate in the government. Hamas infrastructure – including underground tunnels and weapon production facilities – should be destroyed. The proposal presupposes the process of demilitarization of the Gaza band.
