Valencia calls for the removal of excerpts in which fans call the monkey in the stands of Mestalla Stadium. Instead of “monkey”, the club claims that the fans called the Brazilian striker Tonto (silly).

In May 2023, Valencia and faced each other. The insults started even before the ball rolled. Discrimination increased during the second half when Vinicius Junior identified two fans who were calling him a monkey.

The game was paralyzed and moments later there was a big fight on the field, with the Brazilian striker being expelled after interference from the video referee. Outraged by the incident, Vinicius Junior left the field applauding the arbitration ironicly.
