Citizens’ dissatisfaction with the work of the Mertz government and concern about the functioning of democracy, is highlighted by the new ARD, in which the alternative to Germany () shares the first place with the Christian Union (CDU/CSU).
In today’s Deutschlandtrend on behalf of the first channel of German public television, AfD and CDU/CSU share the first place with 26%. AFD, which has increased its poll for 10 points in the last year, has been gaining one unit from the previous measurement, while the Union loses one unit in the same period. The Social Democratic Party (SPD) remains in second place with 14% unchanged, followed by the Greens with 12% (+1) and the left with 10% and no change. The Zara Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) and the Liberals (FDP) accumulate from 3% and are far from the entry threshold (5%).
It thickens “black” in the Merz government

In the question of Israel’s reaction to Hamas’ attack, 63% say they consider it excessive, 15% appropriate and 6% inadequate. 55% are in favor of recognizing an independent Palestinian state, with 20% supporting the opposite view. In the same vein, 55% of respondents seek to impose sanctions on Israel, while 27% are opposed to such a perspective.
