On Monday (6), the US Supreme Court rejected Ghislaine Maxwell’s request to nullify his condemnation for sexual trafficking of 2021, related to the enticement of adolescents who were abused by dishonorable financier Jeffrey Epstein.
The 63-year-old British socialite and Epstein’s ex-girlfriend fulfills a 20-year prison sentence. Maxwell argued that he was protected from the accusations by a clause in a non -pursuit agreement that Epstein signed in 2007 with federal prosecutors in Florida. She was indicted by federal prosecutors in New York in 2020.

If the Supreme Court had agreed to review its case, this would have added a new chapter to a high complexity legal and political drama. President Donald Trump’s administration has been pressured to release federal investigation documents about Epstein, who died in a 2019 Manhattan prison while facing new accusations of sexual trafficking.
Trump, who recognized a friendship with Epstein, said in July that he had the power to forgive Maxwell. The following month, Maxwell told a high justice department official that he never saw Trump act inappropriately.
In 2008, Epstein stated guilty of state accusations in Florida and served about a year in prison after Alexander Acosta, then US Attorney for the Southern Florida district, promises not to sue him for federal crimes. Although the document does not name it, Maxwell says he was covered by this agreement as an unsuccessful co-conspiring.

The financier was indicted in July 2019 by federal promoters in Manhattan. A month later, while awaiting trial, he was found dead in his cell in apparent suicide.
Maxwell, daughter of the British pressa of the press Robert Maxwell, was considered guilty by a federal jury in December 2021 after a one -month trial. Prosecutors presented evidence and testimonies that she attracted and enlisted teenagers to be sexually abused by Epstein and sometimes participated in the abuse.
She was convicted of five accusations, including conspiracy to transport minors, minor transport and sexual trafficking.

In July, Maxwell was interrogated at an unusual private meeting with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. During the interview, Maxwell said that although she and Epstein had a social relationship with Trump years ago, she never saw the president behave inappropriately, according to transcripts released by the government. She also denied that Epstein blackmails famous people and maintaining a list of customers.
Shortly after the interview, Maxwell was transferred to a minimum security prison in Texas.
Socialite’s lawyers, educated in Oxford, argued to the Supreme Court that two federal court courts were divided on the legal issue of knowing if such non-pursuit agreement protected co-conspiring.

Prosecutors opposed Maxwell’s petition, arguing that his interpretation of Epstein’s agreement was “unlikely.” They said the Justice Department policy covers only the district that grants immunity and not all federal prosecutors in the country, such as Maxwell alleged.
Last year, a Federal Court of Appeal in Manhattan rejected Maxwell’s appeal, concluding that “nothing” in the non -pursuit agreement “shows affirmatively” that he “was intended to link multiple districts” and protect Maxwell and others from being accused.
Four women witnessed at Maxwell’s trial, saying they were sexually abused as teenagers between 1994 and 2004 at the Epstein Mansion at Upper East Side, on his property in Palm Beach, Rancho in New Mexico, as well as at Maxwell’s house in London, among other luxury properties.
