He denounced 20 people caught tampefering beer and beer in a shed in Ferraz de Vasconcelos, Greater São Paulo. The operation, carried out by the Civil Police on September 23, resulted in the seizure of 980 boxes of beer and eight boxes with caps of various brands used in forgery.

According to prosecutor Felipe Ribeiro Santa Fe, the 11 men and 9 women involved should be responsible for the crimes of criminal association and falsification of product intended for consumption, and have already had their preventive arrests decreed. According to the MP, the shed – located on Avenida do Paiol, in the Chácara neighborhood – housed a complete structure of forgery, with inputs, equipment and a clear division of tasks among participants.

“Conducts demonstrate the stability and permanence of the criminal association, revealing the concrete severity of acts and the risk of criminal reiteration,” said the prosecutor. The investigation pointed out that the group exchanged labels and lids of known brands, replacing the original content with inferior quality drinks and without sanitary control. The beers, according to police, were stolen in Mauá and Ribeirão Pires and, after adulteration, would be distributed in Santo André, in ABC Paulista.

During the action, agents seized labels, lids, manual presses, empty draft beer barrels, gas cylinders, a printer, as well as transportation equipment such as forklifts, strollers and a minibus, pickup truck, van and car. A card machine was also found, indicating direct marketing of adulterated drinks. The Public Prosecution Service stressed that there is no evidence of methanol use in counterfeit beverages – toxic substance that has caused cases of intoxication in various parts of the country
