State deputy Fábio Faria de Sá (Podemos) presented a bill with the aim of helping pilgrims who go to , in São Paulo, in the week leading up to October 12th.
The proposal has already been approved by the House Justice Committee and should go to the plenary of the House.
Named the Safe Route Program, the project foresees that they will be implemented in the sections where the faithful follow signposts, support points, bathrooms and emergency service stations, with the presence of ambulances.
In justifying the proposal, Sá states that, according to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), between October 5th and 13th, 2024, approximately 37 thousand people made the pilgrimage to the National Sanctuary. At least three deaths were recorded last year.
The deputy cites as a model the actions taken by the Government of Goiás on the Romeiros highway, which connects Goiânia to Trindade, with the installation of exclusive lanes for pedestrians and fences during the Pilgrimage of the Divino Pai Eterno.
