The Brazilian Football Confederation announced, this Wednesday (8), that it received authorization from FIFA to publish audio and videos of decisions taken by the referee, even in plays that were not reviewed in the VAR booth.

The attitude was taken after the controversial refereeing of the clash between , valid for the 27th round of the Brasileirão, which took place last Sunday (5).

“Since the beginning of our administration, we have been working on structural problems in Brazilian football, addressing issues that have demanded changes for decades. Arbitration is among these priorities”, said Samir Xaud, president of the CBF.

“We are now expanding the dissemination of audios, in the name of transparency. We will announce other improvements in the coming weeksintegrating an action plan that has already been developed since we took over the CBF”, he added.

According to the CBF statement, FIFA’s authorization is something unprecedented in international football. The entity also claims that it is the only national federation to publish all bids that undergo review on the monitor.

“We always consult FIFA on issues that are outside the routine: rules, resolutions, protocols or determinations by IFAB/FIFA itself. In this consultation we argued that presenting high-impact checks, even without the referee going to the booth, would reinforce the integrity of our competitions. We received the release, for instruction and transparency purposes”, explained Rodrigo Cintra, president of the Arbitration Commission of the entity.
