One of the only votes against the MP’s removal from the tax agenda says that he defied the bench’s guidance because he is leaving the party.
he asked to disaffiliate from the party to which he has been linked for around 30 years.
“I voted out of conviction, and because I no longer have an environment within the party”, he stated, which came after having praised minister Alexandre de Moraes ().
The party leadership later backed down, but Rodrigues said the climate became unsustainable. “I’m just waiting for the party’s approval to leave. If that doesn’t happen, I may need to do it legally,” he said.
Candidate for a new term in 2026, he says he has had invitations from several parties, but has not yet decided his fate. He only stated that he will join a centrist party.
