Striker Harry Kane, captain of the English team, is out of the friendly against Wales, this Thursday (9), at Wembley, due to an ankle injury. The problem occurred at the end of Bayern Munich’s victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, last weekend.

Coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed that .

“Harry was kicked in the last game. He was too sore to kick the ball and it would be risky to put him on the field tomorrow. We gave him the chance to rest,” explained the coach. “I’m sure they’ll be ready to face Latvia.”

England face Latvia away from home on October 14th and if they win and Serbia lose points against Albania.

Tuchel said one of Declan Rice, Jordan Henderson or John Stones will wear the captain’s armband against Wales. The coach will also make four changes to the team that beat Serbia 5-0 last month.

with 11 goals and 3 assists this Bundesliga season. Historic top scorer for the English team, he has scored 74 goals in 109 matches for the national team and 103 goals in 106 games for the German club since leaving Tottenham in 2023.

The striker also indicated this week that he is open to extending his contract with Bayern, which ends in 2027, and that his desire to return to the Premier League has “diminished”.

Wales, in turn, are looking to break a taboo that has lasted since 1977, when they last beat England at Wembley.

“We are not here as tourists to enjoy the occasion. We came to show the best of our football”, said coach Craig Bellamy.
