BYD announced this Thursday, the 9th, the plan to reach a production capacity of 600 thousand cars at the factory officially opened on the same date in Camaçari, Bahia. The unit starts with an installed capacity of 150 thousand vehicles per year and, in the original project, was already expected to reach 300 thousand units in a second stage.
Before the inauguration ceremony, however, BYD’s CEO, Wang Chuanfu, announced to the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the commitment to double this volume, to 600 thousand automobiles.
BYD’s goal is to be one of the three largest automakers in the country by 2028 and become number one by 2030.

This Thursday, BYD inaugurated the line that finalizes the production of cars that the brand imports partially assembled from China.
The ceremony brought together, in addition to Lula, vice-president Geraldo Alckmin, the minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, the governor of Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues, and the mayor of Camaçari, Luiz Carlos Caetano.
The factory, according to the automaker, already employs more than 1,500 workers. The promise is to gradually advance the use of national car components.

When completed, BYD assures, the complex will carry out the complete manufacturing of the brand’s main models.
