You will be surprised at what Poland plans to build at the border with Slovakia: a project worth 10 million euros!

The self -government of the Polish Carpathian Voivoda, which borders on the Prešov region, plans to create a so -called. Drone valley and support the development of unmanned aircraft technologies in the region. The EUR 10 million project is to be financed from the European Union funds and will include the construction of a landing area, a hangar, a training center and a drone testing center. This is reported by the Warsaw newsletter TASR, according to information from Vojvods.

Marsalek of the Carpathian Voivodeship Wladyslaw Ortyl said on Friday at a press conference in the Carpathian Center of Innovation in Rzeszov that the aim of the project is to develop the competences of the region in the field of aviation and cosmonautics, which are among his intelligent specializations. He added that the location at the border with the war affected by Ukraine forces the region to think about security issues.

A member of the leadership of the Duke of Malgorzat Jarosiňa-Odynak stressed that the so-called. The drone valley will allow you to develop technologies usable in the defense and civilian sector. According to her, the project should be funded by the EU program for Carpathians for 2021-2027, and the decision of the European Commission is expected by the end of this year.

The self -government partner is to be a cluster of unmanned systems. His President Aneta Lobodziňa said the valley will provide a safe space for the development, testing and certification of drones. She explained that, according to regulations, different types of drones must go through the certification process that could be carried out at this point.

The project fits into a wider strategy for the development of unmanned technologies in the region. Subcarpathia became a leader in this area after winning the Polish Air Navigation Agency, which will create a center of competences for unmanned aircraft. Another project in this area is concentrated in Krosno, which lies about 30 km from the border with Slovakia.

Ortyl added that the region wants to combine all the emerging projects into a single system that will make Subcarpathia the largest space in Poland designed to test and operate drones. The aim of these initiatives is to create a network of nine centers of competences in Poland, which will support the development of the national drone market and bring new services, innovation and jobs in the technology sector.
