Elite unit in Madagascar joins protests

Antananarivo – After protests against the government in Madagascar that have been going on for days with more than 20 deaths, soldiers from the elite Capsat unit have now joined the demonstrators. They arrived in armored vehicles from their base in Soanierana, south of the capital Antananarivo, to the center and were greeted with cheers and shouts of thanks by thousands of demonstrators. The soldiers had previously announced on online services that they would defy orders to shoot at demonstrators.
