PGR accuses the group’s members of organizing disinformation actions to spread false news about the electoral process and promote virtual attacks on institutions and authorities
The First Panel of the (STF) begins this Tuesday (14) the trial of the criminal action against Nucleus 4 of the coup plot that occurred during the government of the former president. The members of the collegiate will decide whether to convict seven defendants accused by the (PGR) of organizing disinformation actions to spread false news about the electoral process and promoting virtual attacks on institutions and authorities, in 2022.
This group includes Ailton Gonçalves Moraes Barros (Army reserve major); Ângelo Martins Denicoli (Army reserve major); Giancarlo Gomes Rodrigues (Army warrant officer); Guilherme Marques de Almeida (Army lieutenant colonel); Reginaldo Vieira de Abreu (Army colonel); Marcelo Araújo Bormevet (federal police officer) and Carlos Cesar Moretzsohn Rocha (president of Instituto Voto Legal).
They are responsible for the crimes of armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup d’état, qualified damage through violence and serious threat and deterioration of listed property.
Session
The trial session is scheduled to begin at 9 am. The first day will be dedicated to supporting the defenses and the accusation, which will be carried out by the PGR. Voting will take place in the following sessions. Three more sessions were reserved to finalize the trial, to be held on the 15th, 21st and 22nd of this month.

Prison
Defendants who are convicted by the STF will not be automatically arrested. The defenses will be able to appeal the possible conviction.
Other cores
To date, only nucleus 1, formed by former president Jair Bolsonaro and seven other defendants, has been convicted.
In addition to nucleus 4, nuclei 2 and 3 will be judged later this year. The trial of nucleus 3 is scheduled for November 11th. Group 2 will be judged in December.
Nucleus 5 is formed by businessman Paulo Figueiredo, grandson of the former president of the dictatorship João Figueiredo. He lives and did not present a defense in the process. There is still no forecast for the trial.
