Jokes about “gas chambers”, blacks as “monkeys” and praise for Hitler: For more than seven months, leading members of the Republican youth organizations spread racist, anti-Semitic and violence-glorifying messages in private Telegram chats, according to US magazine Politico reported on Monday. It referred to black people as “monkeys” or “watermelon people,” and people from India as “unwashed.” In a message, the then chairman of the Young Republicans of New York and one of the most prominent chat participants, Peter Giunta, wrote: “Anyone who votes no will go to the gas chamber.” He later added: “Great. I love Hitler.”
